The Qing dynasty saw significant expansion and modernization, particularly during the reign of the Kangxi, Qianlong, and Guangxu emperors. However, it also faced internal rebellion and foreign invasion, and by the late 19th and early 20th centuries, it was in a state of decline. The Qing dynasty was ultimately overthrown in 1912, following the Xinhai Revolution, which established the Republic of China.
